Welcome back readers to another episode of Muting and The Mouse. This post is going to change the pace from some of the others I typically post. I was thinking that I always talk about escaping into the magic, no matter how far. Well, that is just what we are going to talk about today. In the past, we have escaped into the magic by looking at reviews of the parks, restaurant, rides, shows, and so much more. Well, the magic can come home too. This can take many forms. You can enter into the magic of Disney in many ways and everyone has their go to. You can watch Disney movies, spend hours on Disney Plus watching all of the content, watch Youtube videos from the parks, listen to Disney music, and make your favorite Disney meals. Well, let’s be honest, we most likely do all of the above, but today we will talk about how we escape into the magic by decorating our home with Disney touches. There are so many options when it comes to decorating your home with Disney. For me, there is a lot of opportunity in our home when it comes to bringing Disney touches into it. You can start with photos, name the wifi, get kitchen appliances and tools, and even make your own items to bring Disney joy. We have a variety of all of the above in the Muting home. Now, we have some in your face Disney touches, but we also have some subtle Disney touches. Both are fun and both bring that Disney magic into everyday life. I mean the endless photos we have taken at Walt Disney World have to be used for something, am I right? I would like to introduce to you a little more about me in this post, so without further rambling, let me take you through our home and show you some of the Disney magic!
First off, we have some Disney as soon as you walk up to our home. My father-in-law provided us with a wonderful gift that allows a smaller Disney touch for us when we simply sit out on our front porch. We always wanted some rocking chairs to have on our porch. He made us some rocking chairs and they included a magical touch. He carved a Mickey into them and it is a nice touch to give you that extra smile and touch of magic to such a staple item for the porch. It is these types of things that get you to escape into the magic and the subtle touches we absolutely love. Such a thoughtful gift to give us the feeling of Disney.
Next up, as we enter into the home, just at the entrance is an extra magical touch. You find a table and some chairs. Now this is not just any old table and chairs. The table is an add on but the chairs is where the magic shines. They once again have the Mickey shape in the backrest of the chairs. This is only the beginning of the magic. These chairs are actually from an All Star Movies Resort! The chairs were removed as part of the remodels of the hotel and they were bought at Cast Connection at Disney. My wife purchased these to own a piece of Disney for her future home and boy do we love them. It is fun to look and see the magic that brought so many people happiness over the years. It is a nice addition to the home and has made a nice Disney corner as a place to enjoy some coffee. We even added some of our favorite Disney magazines and nicknacks to decorate the table.
Moving into the living space/room we have some fun Disney touches as well. The magic of Disney is something special, and we are blessed to have made a special brick to commemorate our day of marriage. These bricks used to be outside of the Magic Kingdom. When the park began renovations they tore up the bricks and made some available for you to purchase as a remembrance to the ones outside the park. Now we obviously did not have one of those bricks that were placed for years outside the park, but we took the opportunity to get a brick to take home. Next, we have so many photos of our trips to even know what to do with. I took one from each park and decided we should get some canvas’ made to show the four parks. They sit above our couch and are a really nice touch to see the park icons every day. There is also the plaque of the famous walt Disney Quote “ Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy”. We love this quote and it fits so well in our living room with the four park photos. It makes you feel like you can enter that magical place just by looking above our couch. As you continue on in our place you come over to our bar area. The bar has one special touch. Above the bar is a mirror. The mirror once again is a special Disney piece that was made available for purchase. Our friend who lives down in Florida got it for us when she saw it and it is the perfect addition to the bar. The mirror was found in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and is the perfect add on since our wifi is named after the resort my wife worked for during her Disney College Program. That reminds me, our last Disney touch in the room helps you find the name of our wifi. You will see a replica of the entry sign that can be found at Animal Kingdom Lodge and you can’t help but smile at the fun Disney sign.
Continuing into the guest bedroom, our first Disney touch is the bedset. My father-in-law came in clutch again with making us a bed frame to add some magic. He did not only make the bed set, but he made it with some Disney flair. At first glance you see a beautiful bed frame with a sun in the headboard. Then you look longer and you realize it is the sun that is found on the lantern from Tangled! My wife’s favorite movie is Tangled and her dad did a wonderful job adding the magic to a simple item. It is stunning and so much fun for guests when they see it.
On theme with the rest of the place, we decided to dedicate a room to Animal Kingdom Lodge. Abby had some nice things from the lodge and we decided to dedicate the guest bathroom to be all themed. We had some nice engagement photos taken at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge as well as the Peoria Zoo. These are nice additions to the bathroom to fill some wall space. On the shelf are some nicknacks and animal trinkets to add some fun ambiance with the signs and Animal masks. You do feel as if you are at the lodge with the theme and it is a fun way to add such an important time in my wife’s life to our home.
Walking into our bedroom, we decided no to go all out but have some really nice personal Disney touches. Above our bed we see a giant canvas of the hub at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. This was a photo we had taken on one of our trips. It is a fun photo-op that zooms in and out and can be found on our home page on the website. The photo has us in it and provides a fun “Where’s Waldo” type of thing for people to see. On either side of the bed we see two park fireworks posters. On one side we see Wishes. Wishes was such a fun fireworks show and provided a fun personal touch for both Abby and I. I love to have this one in our room because it reminds me that without knowing it, I once made a wish that would come true during Wishes! That wish was to find a Disney fanatic like me to marry, and that did indeed come true! On the other side, is Happily Ever After. This one is personal too as it was the perfect transition to that wish I made a while ago. These two fireworks shows add the love and magic of Disney that we see each day when we wake up and go to bed.
Continuing on into the kitchen, we have so many different Disney touches but we will keep it short. We have some Disney appliances like a crock pot, a popcorn maker, mugs, a waffle maker and so much more. These are so fun to display and use as it adds an extra smile. Disney kitchen supplies are so easy to find and we have a ton, but one thing remains, the magic is in every room here and we could not be happier.
People have said, it is exactly what they would expect from two Disney nerds but not in a gaudy way. They have told us that it is a nice touch and they would not expect it any other way. You see, I take that as helping them escape into the magic, no matter how far! They enter into the Muting home and they are reminded of the happiest place on earth (our home…jk). It takes you to a time where you can just enjoy life and remember the feeling of Disney on any day. Do you have any Disney touches in your home? What do you do in your home to decorate Disney? Share below and share how you enter into the magic from where you are in your house, apartment, or even workplace! Thanks for reading and remember to escape into the magic, no matter how far you are. Happy Disney everyone!
