Hiya friends and here we are at another food review. Welcome back to Muting and The Mouse where we escape into the magic, no matter how far. We find ourselves in Magic Kingdom for a food review in this post. Magic Kingdom has some fun places to sit down and grab a bite to eat. Food is all around you and the themes of the restaurants are fun and whimsical. As you walk into the park, on the right, you come up to a restaurant before you even have a chance to see Cinderella Castle. As you enter into the Town Square you are transformed into Tony’s from Lady and The Tramp. This is a sit down dining experience that serves Italian Cuisine. There is something to eat for the whole family at this dining restaurant. I mean, who does not love Italian Food. Now, this is not the best Italian restaurant on Disney Property, but the food is good and it satisfies your Italian Food Craving. Further on, I will describe the atmosphere and decor, the food, the experience, and the different dining packages it offers for some added bonus. All in all, if you have the chance to dine where Lady and The Tramp had their first kiss, I say do it.
Atmosphere and Decor
Tony’s Town Square Restaurant sits to the right of the town square itself on Mainstreet USA. The restaurant has some outdoor dining, as well as indoor dining. When you check in, you are taken into the restaurant and you see Lady and the Tramp greeting you to the dining experience. The main room looks like any other Italian Restaurant that you see. Mainly red, white and black flooring, wood accents and flowers all around you. The next room has you in an indoor patio type of feel. The bright room is lit from the outside as well as the inside as it has big glass windows to add to the feel of the patio. The vibe inside is one of a kind and has you singing Belle Note. The atmosphere really has you feeling like you are at Tony’s from the movie. Be sure to keep an eye outside the outdoor seating area. In the front of the restaurant, there is a heart with some paw prints from your favorite Disney Dogs to let you know they were there.
The Food
The food here has some classic Italian choices that all will love. The menu is both kid friendly and adult friendly with a variety of Italian favorites. Now the menu has changed since we went there but there are still some of the same options being offered now. Abby and I shared a couple appetizers, a couple entrees, and a couple of desserts. We had a special dining package, so this was a bonus for us to try some of the foods (we will get into that later).
First up, we started with a couple of appetizers. I chose the Parmesan chicken wings and Abby chose the spinach artichoke dip. Both were good. The wings were grilled or baked and had a nice covering of parmesan and other Italian seasonings. They were not the best wings and did have a different texture than I was expecting, but overall they were a nice Italian take on a favorite. Next, the spinach artichoke dip was amazing. The combination is a classic and the little toasted Italian bread was a really nice addition for the dip to go on. The dip was warm and cheese had a nice ratio of spinach and artichokes throughout each bite. Out of the two, this is one that I would get again if it was on the menu. On to the entrees.
Abby decided to get the ravioli and I decided to get the Italian Trio for the main course. First up, the ravioli. I mean, it is a little hard to mess up a classic- but this one was good. The sauce was delicious, the ravioli was cooked nicely and the cheese filling was good as well. The ravioli was topped with some grilled chicken which was really tender and delicious. A nice addition to the dish was that it was also topped with balsamic glaze and red blistered tomatoes. The portion was nice and it made for a satisfying lunch. The Italian Trio was next. This consisted of Fettuccini Alfredo, Chicken Parmesan, and the regular spaghetti. Sometimes they offer baked mostaccioli on this and I am sure that is good. I do wish that was the case for my dish, but I was happy with my trio. They offered a good spread of all of your favorite Italian dishes. My least favorite was the regular spaghetti. The alfredo was good and had a nice sauce on it. My favorite of all was the chicken parmesan. Now, maybe I am biased because it is naturally my favorite, but I would recommend it. The entrees were good and fun to share, but we did have to save some room for dessert.
Abby and I got two classics for our dessert choices. We chose the tiramisu and the cannoli. They were two nice portions of dessert and were definitely worth it. The cannoli was good and not too sweet. By cannoli standards, pretty good. The only gripe I had was that the shell was a bit soft. This is just because they fill them prior to serving; but the flavors were there. The tiramisu was really light and refreshing. The powder on top mixed with the cream and the soaked lady fingers was just right and I would order that again. Overall, the food was good. The menu is simple but has a lot of options for all ages.
Added Experiences
Now the reason we dined here was because we had taken advantage of a dining package they offered before COVID. The package was $65 per person and you each get an appetizer, entrée, and dessert with a VIP ticket to watch the Festival of Fantasy Parade. The value is there if you ask me. Now, you might think that is a lot to spend for lunch and you are right. But we treated it as a date night, lunch. Couple the two appetizers, two entrees, and two desserts with the VIP seating for the parade and I think you get a pretty good deal. With the VIP seating, we chose to sit right at the nose of Mainstreet looking down at the Castle. Talk about some pretty cool pictures and videos of the parade. If you are able to get this dining experience in the future, I would say jump on it. We did not have to sit around for a long time to get a nice spot, we showed up a half hour before and were able to get a front row spot looking at the castle as the parade came right at us. See the below pictures and make a conclusion for yourself.
As you can see, Disney has some pretty cool dining experiences in the Magic Kingdom Park. The food is all pretty good and adds some fun to the dining experience. They put you in your favorite movies and fantasies. Here we dined with Lady and the Tramp, had some good Italian food, and had a VIP showing to the parade. How magical is that? Well, if you have dined here, let me know in the comments below how you liked it. My opinion is, I am not going to actively seek it out, but it is a nice dining option. If you were able to take advantage of a dining package like this anywhere on Disney Property, let me know in the comments below. They really make it worth your while! Continue to escape into the magic and share your experience in the comments to help others escape into the magic, no matter how far. Until next time, stay magical!
