Fab Five Food Items from Epcot Festival of The Arts 2022

Hello readers and welcome back to Muting and the Mouse. We are trying to get more involved with some alternate ways to give you more Disney content, but do not fear, we will still get you guys some articles moving forward. Sometimes the magic of Disney is better shared via video and interactive social media posts, so we will try to blend them both together to give you a whole new feel of Muting and The Mouse moving forward. With that said, we truly hope you guys have enjoyed the latest trip and the updates seen on our Instagram account. Well, enough about that, lets get into this post.

On our last trip, we had the pleasure of attending Epcot during their Festival of the Arts! This was super exciting as we had never attended this festival at this time of the year. This festival is the shortest of all of the festival’s that Epcot hosts and it seems to never disappoint. Besides all of the amazing art that you can look at and purchase, the food booths all have that artsy feel to them as well. They are visually stunning at times and you feel bad breaking into them while you eat. In this post, we are going to talk about my favorite dishes from the festival. If you follow our social media, you have a sneak peak of what we tried, but you might have been wondering, what was the best? Never fear, let me share below! Now, this was tough and splitting hairs to choose which I liked the best, but just know, all of these below were top notch.

5. Tomato Soup with Bacon, Apple, and Brie Grilled Cheese

Coming in at number five is a simple classic dish that did not disappoint! The Tomato Soup with Bacon, Apple, and Brie Grilled Cheese was delicious! This dish is found at the Pop Eats stand. The soup was the perfect eating temperature and was the perfect velvety tomato soup. The grilled cheese was good. The bread was super crispy, the cheese was melty, but the apple was why this fell at number five. Overall, I loved the dish, but the apple threw me off. Really fun to try a new take on the grilled cheese and the dish worked! Plus, who doesn’t love the fun soup can!?

4. Spicy Ajiaco Soup

Moving on to the next dish, we are going to keep it going with the soups. At a new booth to the festival, this soup is found at the Encanto themed booth Vibrante & Vivido Encanto Cocina! This spicy soup consisted of Guajillo, Arbol Chili-Spiced Chicken, Potato, Avocado, Ear of Corn, and Creme-Fraiche on top. The soup was super good. The spice level punched through (which is big for Disney food) and the Creme-Fraiche and avocado added a nice cooling agent to the dish. This soup was a surprise to fall on this list. We were not going to order it, but boy did we enjoy it and we are super glad we tried it. The corn was lack luster, but the entire soup dish was one of the better things we ate the day we tried it. We might not want to talk about Bruno, but we will for sure keep talking about this soup!

3. Cast Iron-roasted P.E.I. Mussels

Moving on to the third best dish at the festival, was one I was very excited to get. This dish for the price is a huge reason it lands in the top three. I tried the mussels found at the new Craftsman’s Courtyard. I was nervous but excited to try these mussels because it can be very tough to not overcook them. These were scooped into a bowl and it seemed like they would not stop scooping the mussels into the bowl. There were so many! There were 15 of them and that seemed like so many compared to some of the other portions. They were topped with sautéed tomatoes and garlic. They did give you two crostini pieces as well. The mussels were pretty darn good. Close enough to perfectly cooked. But the amount of mussels for the price and how good they tasted has it at number three on the list!

2. General Tso’s Chicken Shumai

Numbe two on the list of food we tried is none other than a crowd favorite. The General Tso’s Chicken Shumai. For those who do not know what a Shumai is, it is a traditional dumpling. These were really really really good, folks. I mean how can they not be. They were a really fancy General Tso’s Chicken potsticker in a sense. The sauce had a nice sweet but then spicy flavor. There does not look like much in the photo but there was just enough. The chicken was really tender and the dumpling was tender as well. Someone asked me once if it was the best of that type of food I ever had. Well, after he asked that and then I thought about this dish and yes, this was the best chicken pot sticker type item I have had in a long time.

1. Pan-Seared Scallops

Number one is here and I bet you are asking what could top out the Chicken Shumai? Well, here we are at the Artist’s Table in the America Pavilion for our number one dish! The Pan-Seared Scallops with Vanilla-Butternut Squash Puree, Brown Butter Cauliflower Puree, and Lime Foam was the best dish in my opinion. Once again, I did not have high hopes because it is tricky to cook the perfect scallop and being at a festival, I did not think it could be achieved. But, my scallops were cooked perfectly. They were so tender and the lime foam added a nice touch to the seared scallop. The puree’s were very good as well. They were so silky smooth and had really nice flavor. They kind of stole the show for me and really set it apart. I almost went back for more!

There you have it! Our fab five list of festival foods at Epcot’s Festival of the Arts! The festival is a short one but I urge you to try to attend and experience if you travel to Disney World during it! The art is amazing, the food is amazing, and bringing the two of them together can be visually stunning! Have you been to the Festival of the Arts in the past? Have you been this year? Let us know in the comments below and remember to continue to escape into the magic, no matter how far!

  1. Everything looks delicious…especially the General Tso’s Chicken Shumai! The positive side of Disney running out of Figment popcorn buckets is that you didn’t have to stand in an hours long line to get the grilled cheese and tomato soup at least!
