Restaurant Review: Enzo’s Hideaway

Hello everyone and welcome back to another Muting and The Mouse! We are going to jump right back into the magic with another food review! I do realize that this is turning into a food review blog, but I do get asked often for food recommendations when visiting Walt Disney World Resort. There are so many, so I do hope to give some helpful insight into some of the food and restaurants that Disney has to offer. Recently, instead of going to the same old restaurants, we decided to try some new spots to really give readers an idea of all the options there are offered. If there is anywhere you would like to see reviewed, let us know! If you are just wondering if a place is worth it, reach out. I do love talking about all things Disney. If I have been, I will be sure to provide insight! For this review we will be headed to Disney Springs. Disney Springs has so many food offerings for those looking to dine there. They have almost every food group covered, so no matter how picky your eaters are, you can find something that will satisfy the cravings of all. We were craving some Italian food and did want to try some new place. A couple of weeks before we were set to go, we had a recommendation from a close family friend. They had recommend we try Enzo’s Hideaway if we had not been. It turns out we had not and I was quick to make the reservation on the My Disney Experience App. We could not wait to try a new restaurant and below is what we had and what we thought.

Arrival and Seating

We arrived at Enzo’s and I was really liking the vibe from the get go. You walk down the stairs to get to the entrance and it looks like an old entrance where you have to know a password. I mean, after all, it is a hideaway. When we walked inside, we were surrounded by cement walls and pillars all covered with graffiti. The theme is really one of an old gangster hideaway. We checked in and were immediately sat at our table. The table was in the center of the restaurant and we had a nice view of the entire dining area. The music playing when we walked in was some Frank Sinatra, so that scored it more points for myself. Our server came to the table and it was time to eat. But before I dive into the food, let me say, atmosphere alone…I loved it. If you are looking to really dive into an Italian mobster setting, this is it. Now, it isn’t like a mob scene, but what I mean is it is truly what it claims to be…a hideaway.

Drinks and Food

Our server had come and they brought us some water and bread service to the table. The bread was typical for an Italian Restaurant, accompanied by the oil to dip in. No matter how hard I try, I always over eat the bread service. I wanted to be sure to enjoy the meal ahead so shockingly I did limit myself. We had decided on some drinks and no surprise for me, I had ordered the Hazelnut Old Fashion. This consisted of Knob Creek, Frangelico, Orange, and a Luxardo Maraschino Cherry. The drink was great if you like Old Fashions. The drink was not too strong and had the classic finish. Abby had ordered the Luciano Spritz. This drink consisted of Solerno Blood Orange, Aperol, Blood Orange Juice, and Prosecco. Overall, Abby really enjoyed the drink. She has admitted in weeks since she does not particularly like Aperol, but I think she would order it again. The drinks were nice and add that with the ambiance and you have a nice little pre dinner cocktail hour!

It was time to order some food. We did have this dinner with a close friend so we had decided to try the Calamari Fritti. Abby does not particularly like Calamari but our friend does so we ordered it. This was served with Hot Cherry Peppers, Spicy Marinara Sauce, and a Garlic Aioli sauce. This was out of this world. I mean the calamari was so tender and cooked perfectly, even Abby enjoyed it! The peppers added a nice spice and the dipping sauces were very good. I did prefer to dip them in the spicy marinara sauce but both were good. This was a good sized appetizer to share with a family or group of people.

On to the main course! When it came time to order, I had decided to get the Eggplant Parmigiana. This was just as it sounds served with a side of Spaghetti. The dish was very good. The eggplant was cooked nicely and the sauce was great. The only thing I would say I did not like was the amount of melted cheese. Okay, okay, I get it, how can you have too much cheese? To me there seemed to be way to much on, but it was no big deal to scrape some off to the side and make the ratio right. I just thought with the amount it had on it, it took away from the eggplant. Overall, it was very good and I really had to nit pick for the one negative.

Abby ordered the Ravioli Formaggi. This was a nice size helping of ravioli. I did try them and they were very good. A nice filling is key with ravioli and these did not disappoint. The ricotta filled ravioli was topped with Pomodoro sauce. For those who do not know what that is it is simply this. It is a tomato-based pasta sauce made from a combination of fresh tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, and fresh basil. Pomodoro means “golden apple,” because the sauce was traditionally made with tomatoes that were slightly yellow in color. The sauce was fresh and really paired well with the ravioli. Abby really enjoyed them and would order them again.

Now, after all of that food, we did not have any room for dessert. We also wanted to try another place for dessert that will be featured in another post! Overall, this restaurant was a hit for me. I really enjoyed the ambiance, the decor, the theming and the food was spot on. I do want to say that on a really hot day maybe you do not want a big filling Italian feast, but the food was so worth it. This is a really nice dining option at Disney Springs and I would highly recommend it. If you have been to Enzo’s Hideaway, let us know in the comments below what you thought! Until next time, continue to escape into the magic, no matter how far!

  1. Great review! From another who over indulges in bread service, that bread service looks great! I’ve never been to Enzo’s because I am not a big fan of Italian food (hides face in shame), but I have always loved the concept of the prohibition era speakeasy that it is and have wanted to at least stop in for drinks. Their charcuterie appetizer also looks tasty! Expensive, but tasty!
